Vertical Encyclopedias

Source: reference/verticals/README.md · synced 2026-06-12

Domain-specific knowledge packs for the 4 grant-level marketing verticals Calibre operates in. Used by:

  • Steps 5–8 (matching engine) — to inform conditional mapping rubrics and scoring
  • Step 9 (outreach) — to inform tone and vernacular
  • Audit defence — proves the system is genuinely domain-specific, not generic

See grant/scope.md and grant/audit-trail.md.

The 4 marketing verticals (encyclopedias)

Commodities & Renewablescommodities-and-renewables.md

Offshore Services & Start-upsoffshore-services.md
Technology & Gamingtech-and-gaming.md

Note on rubric configs (2026-06-11): The 4 grant-vertical rubric stubs that used to sit at ../rubric-configs/{commodities,maritime,offshore,tech-gaming}.json were archived because the runtime engine fires rubrics at 22 sub-vertical granularity, not 4 grant-vertical. New configs land at ../rubric-configs/{sub-function}.{sub-vertical}.json once the bootstrap mine fires. See ../rubric-configs/README.md for the sub-vertical inventory + schema.

Structure of Each Vertical File

Each file follows the same template:

  1. Scope — what kinds of roles and companies fall under this vertical
  2. Sub-functions — the major job families inside the vertical
  3. Common titles — role titles seen in this vertical (with seniority signals)
  4. Skills, tools, certifications — the vocabulary used in JDs and CVs
  5. Industry jargon — terms that distinguish a real candidate from a keyword-matched one
  6. Career trajectories — typical paths, what “good” looks like at each level
  7. Red flags — signals that someone is faking it or wrong-fit
  8. Outreach tone notes — how to write to candidates in this vertical
